Dear Madame Speaker,
I would like to personally thank you for the extremely isolated partisan leadership you have delivered from your gerrymandered 8th District of California over the past two decades. Your leadership has done more to wake up the citizens of this great nation to move against arrogant, disconnected, partisan politics than any congressional representative I can remember in my lifetime.
Yes, I credit you with this enormous accomplishment in 2010 and I hope you may always enjoy better than 70% favorability in your enclave of District 8. Please don't retire even if the rest of your peers are swept out office, you remind us of so many of principles we must never forget!
--- "Let me say that unemployment insurance… is one of the biggest stimuluses (sic) to our economy. Economists will tell you, this money is spent quickly. It injects demand into the economy, and it’s job creating. It creates jobs faster than almost any other initiative you can name." ~ NP
--- "We need to work toward the goal of equalizing income, in our country and at the same time limiting the amount the rich can invest." ~ NP
--- "We have an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our country who need our help along with millions of unemployed minorities. Stock market windfall profits taxes could go a long way to guarantee these people the standard of living they would like to have as 'Americans'" ~ NP
--- "We have to pass the Bill so you can find out what's in it." ~ NP
Your unprecedented national favorability of 11% reminds nearly 9/10 of Americans why they need a representative government "of the people, and for the people." It reminds Americans how uncompromising ideas scraped together in extreme pockets of partisanship like CA District 8 are not appreciated in a free and open society devoted to liberty and justice. And above all it reminds so many how important common sense and freedom from an over-reaching, over-bearing, arrogant government establishment is to our way of life in this country.
Like many other Americans, I fully recognize that the sweeping changes in Congress in 2010 owe a great deal of credit to your extremely disconnected performance in office with virtually no credit to be given to the favorability or lack there of for the GOP. In the end you were absolutely dead-on correct when you looked us all in the eyes and promised that you personally would "drain the swamp" that our corrupt and disconnected US Congress has become.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Now on this day before these historical landslide elections of 2010, it is already clear that YOU Madame Speaker have been the single greatest catalyst from within the US Congress responsible for "draining the swamp" and helping to restore sanity to the American people.
God Bless and Truly Yours,
